Working in a high volume, fast paced Central Staff Hub which consists of Recruitment, Immigration, Global Mobility, HR Operations, Payroll and Pensions, I am an experienced HR manager with proven track record of system implementation, process improvement and people management. During my 23 year HR career at the University of Birmingham, I worked within Recruitment before moving into HR Operations, where I have supported the implementation and embedding of ServiceNow (HR query management system), Oracle Fusion within Recruitment, HR Operations and Payroll, along with embracing Microsoft software and Leapwork Studio to improve processes and give value added time back to the teams. Customers are at the heart of what we do, and over the last 5 years I have supported the function to introduce service level agreements to provide focus to teams. Data quality and quality of interactions is monitored and rated to ensure customer focus and standardisation is embedded across the floor, increasing the efficiency of positive interactions and timely outcomes.

Prior to joining the University of Birmingham, I had experience within the private sector working in both the UK and in the USA, in a variety of specialist and HR generalist roles. One of these moves took me to be the Operational lead for an HR Shared Service Centre, which provided support to over 20,000 members of staff. It was here that I was able to combine my loves of problem solving and continuous improvement. I have been with the University of Birmingham for six years, initially leading the HR Operations, Recruitment and Immigration teams, prior to the formation of the Central Staff Hub (CSH) in 2021. The CSH further incorporated Payroll, Pensions and Global Mobility. It has been a hugely challenging yet exciting time over the past 4 years as we have focused on reviewing our service offering, streamlining processes, putting metrics in place to measure performance both for efficiency but also quality – and at the heart of this change has been our use of technology and developing the digital skills within our teams.
