Universities Human Resources (UHR) is the professional organisation for HR practitioners working in universities across the UK and Ireland, providing a trusted community, expert insight and practical support to help HR professionals and teams thrive.
Membership gives you access to a national network of HE HR professionals - creating opportunities to connect, share experiences, benchmark approaches and learn from colleagues facing similar challenges. Through UHR's regional networks, events, development programmes, mentoring, webinars and annual conference, members can build their knowledge, skills and professional networks at every stage of their career.
UHR also provides practical insight and resources to help HR teams navigate the challenges facing higher education. We bring together sector knowledge, research, best practice and member experience to help institutions respond to emerging issues, from employment and pay to leadership, organisational change and workforce challenges.
As a member, you benefit not just as an individual, but as part of your whole HR team. Membership is primarily for Higher Educational Institutions in the UK. Once your institution has joined - every member of your HR team will have access to the UHR community and all the membership benefits.
There are also occassions where individuals (without being attached to a HEI) may wish to apply, if this is you, please email us requesting to join.
Joining UHR is simple. Membership is held at institution level, so your university or organisation will need to complete an application form on behalf of the institution.
The UHR subscription year runs from 1 August to 31 July, with subscription rates based on your institution’s turnover. We will confirm which subscription band your institution falls into and the applicable fee.
If your institution joins on or after 1 February, 60% of the annual subscription will be payable for the remainder of that subscription year.
