‘Travel To Country for Work’ guides updated

The Government’s ‘Travel to [enter European country of your choice here] for work’ guides have been updated to ensure accuracy up to 9 January 2023. A full list of the countries and changes can be found here.

Travel to Austria for work – no changes made, confirmation that information is up-to-date as of 9 January 2023

Travel to Belgium for work - no changes made, confirmation that information is up-to-date as of 9 January 2023

Travel to Bulgaria for work - no changes made, confirmation that information is up-to-date as of 9 January 2023

Travel to Croatia for work – confirmation that Croatia is now in the Schengen area (see further details here)

Travel to Cyprus for work – list of exemptions has been updated and time left on passport has reduced to 9 months for some work permits

Travel to the Czech Republic for work - no changes made, confirmation that information is up-to-date as of 9 January 2023

Travel to Denmark for work – confirmation that individuals with a researchers work permit (particularly relevant for HEIs) can have their salary paid into a UK account as long as their stay does not exceed 180 days (NB this also applies to workers in Denmark’s shortage occupation ‘positive list’).

Travel to Finland for work – resident permits for ‘specialists’ takes 2 weeks to get

Travel to Greece for work – digital nomads cannot register with the Greek social security authorities, they will require an insurance certificate

Travel to Hungary for work – there are three updates:

  1. an invitation letter explaining your trip is no longer required for border checks
  2. You can submit appendix 14 forms for an intra-corporate transfer residence permit
  3. You can now submit appendix 9 forms for the combined work and residence permit

Travel to Italy for work – added information on how to get a ‘declaration of presence’ which is required even if you don’t need a visa or permit

Travel to Slovakia for work – under the intra-company transfer (ICT) permit, employers no longer need to report the vacancy to the labour office. Under a single permit, the monthly minimum wage required has been updated to €700.

Travel to Spain for work – new visa for remote workers (digital nomads). Intra-company transfer, highly skilled workers and REM (starting a business in Spain) visas are now valid for 3 years.

Travel to Sweden for work – a number of changes:

  1. Intra-company transfers – trainees do not need a bachelor’s degree, instead a degree from a university/college required for the trainee role
  2. Under the work and residence permit – you may need an accommodation contract if you’re bringing family with you
  3. Local employment – advise that passport is valid for at least the duration of the stay
