Are you thoroughly up-to-speed with the very latest developments in employment law? Our online update will give you everything you need to know - a ‘totally topical’ session, concentrating on the remarkable number of current employment law issues and initiatives.

This concise but comprehensive review comprises two 1¼ hour sessions, with a break in the middle - providing a lively, easily-accessible ‘one-stop-shop’ of all that we need to be aware of in the employment law field.

As ever, specialist legal expert, Philip Lott combines his light-hearted, inter-active quizzes and case studies with an engaging PowerPoint presentation. There will be a detailed handout on all the topics discussed. Amongst many issues, we will explore:

  • The Government has passed four new ‘Family-Friendly’ measures: Can you name all four?;
  • The ‘Borderlines of Banter’: when does ‘light-hearted language’ cross into unlawful harassment? We look at the cases;
  • The EU Exit: The Government’s Brexit Bonanza - or Squishy Squib? What EU Regulations and employment rights are being ‘sunsetted’?;
  • The (now revised) legislation tightening industrial action law;
  • What we have learned from the Covid crisis;
  • The latest on the controversial issue of ‘gender-critical’ beliefs. The difference between ‘belief’ and its ‘manifestation’;
  • The Gender Recognition dispute with the Scottish Government;
  • An update on Data Protection: New ICO Guidance on both monitoring at work and subject access requests.
  • The Labour Party’s plans: roaring radicalism, or a socialist side-step? and:
  • Cases on: employee/worker status; dismissals for ‘reputational damage’; compensation for employee fraud - and (yet again!) the Supreme Court looks at the limits of vicarious liability.
