We have invited PwC to talk to BUFDG, HEPA and UHR members about how they are working with their clients to implement improvements/compliance with the off-payroll working rules. This session will also include a demonstration of PwC’s technology platform.
Off payroll working has been on the increase in the Higher Education sector for some time. We continue to see Higher Education Institutions engaging with a contingent workforce to fill any shortfall in resourcing and in respect of irregular and more casual roles. This can be a combination of contractors, self-employed workers or even agency workers in some cases. For most universities the current processes used to manage contingent workers tend to be largely manual with the onus placed on faculties and departments to provide contractor/worker details and a detailed analysis of employment status is done by a combination of payroll/HR and tax teams.
Reliance on faculties and departments to provide the necessary information in a timely manner, to ensure that it is accurate and consistent presents a number of challenges, and creates risk for the University. PwC will be hosting a session for BUFDG to cover the following:
