HMRC Employer Bulletin April 2021
14 April 2021 Julia Ascott, Employment Taxes Specialist
This months’ HMRC Employer Bulletin has been published highlighting the main changes, announcements and introductions for employers.
Some of the key articles (that we’ve not already highlighted elsewhere) are summarised below:
CJRS – confirmation of extension of the scheme until end of September, but step reductions in support. Also confirms that you can claim for new furloughed employees from 1 May onwards where those employees were included on an RTI return on/before 2 March 2021
The filing deadline for internationally mobile workers was extended from 31 March to 31 May 2021 due to coronavirus
If you paid coronavirus related costs that will need to be reported on your PSA, there is no need to apply for an updated agreement for the 2020/21 tax year but you should inform HMRC’s PSA team at compliance@hmrc.gov.uk
Van fuel benefit charge is zero for vans that produce zero carbon emissions
When OpRA was first legislated back in April 2017, there were transitional arrangements for existing schemes – that has now ended as of April 2021; all arrangements fall within the OpRA rules
If you pay for medical benefits/insurance for your employees, confirmation that the taxable value is the amount of premium less any refunds relating to that year
