"Being on the UHR executive is a great opportunity to contribute professionally to HR within the sector and beyond. It’s an opportunity to meet with and share knowledge and expereince with peers whilst providing unrivalled access to senior leaders including UCEA, OfS and UUK to shape the future of higher education. The time commitment is modest in contrast with the benefits – meetings are held four times a year either in person or on line. An absolutely highlight is being involved in the UHR awards – always uplifting definitely humbling."
Ian Wright, Director of Human Resources, The University of Sheffield
"UHR is the best resource for HR practitioners in HE. It represents excellent value for money given the extensive opportunities it provides for networking, development, celebration and raising standards in HR for the sector. I've benefited from all that UHR has to offer throughout my career in HE and being on the Exec allows me to give something back to those who are helping to ensure our sector remains a national success story and positioning it for the future. But it's not all about giving - as a member of the Exec, I get to meet and work with amazing colleagues from across the country and learn from them. The opportunity to shape how we support our teams and in turn our institutions and sector gives great satisfaction, and is great for the CV. It's not a huge time commitment, as the UHR Team provides excellent support. As long as you are prepared to create time to meet, collaborate and contribute and have an interest in shaping the future, a role on the UHR Exec is a very worthwhile endeavour."
Carolann Begbie, Director of People, IS and Student Services, Edinburgh Napier University
"I joined the UHR Exec Committee this year in my capacity as Chair of the UHR Scotland Group. Being part of the committee offers a great opportunity to get involved in working with Helen and the team on shaping the UHR agenda in a way that aligns to the challenges facing the sector and our institution. It’s also a great opportunity to meet with colleagues from other Institutions sharing and learning together. The time commitment is worth it as we are continuing to work with and develop what is a superb offering to our profession."
