UHR launches CPD framework

UHR has launched a brand new continuing professional development framework. Mapping the levels of provision to the CIPD's HR Profession Map, it charts the CPD opportunities available to staff in UHR member institutions and sets out the key objectives and target audience. Linked to this is the programme of CPD events for the current year, mapping to the framework and the CIPD Map, enabling staff at all levels of the HR profession in HEIs to plan their CPD for the year ahead. Veryan Johnston, CPD lead on the UHR Executive, said, "I am delighted that we have developed such a comprehensive CPD offering that will enable HR professionals at all levels in UHR to be able to plan for and access good quality, tailored CPD opportunities."

UHR & HEFCE LGM Project

Could your staff learning evaluation processes benefit from an upgrade? UHR members have the opportunity to access and use a new staff learning evaluation toolkit which has been designed to meet the specific needs of the Higher Education sector. Over the last 18 months a team of HR academics from Newcastle Business School have worked with HR professionals from Northumbria University, Oxford Brookes University and University College London on a project to improve the way that staff learning and development is evaluated. Supported by HEFCE’ s Leadership, Governance and Management Fund the team led by Professor Sharon Mavin (Dean, Newcastle Business School) and Lesley Lee (Deputy Director of HR, Northumbria University) have developed a comprehensive learning evaluation toolkit which is available to UK HEIs at no cost. As an UHR member you can benefit from the full menu of 47 tools to select those that would add the most value to your approach to evaluating staff (academic and professional) learning and development activities. The guide to the toolkit explains the rationale for each resource and also gives specific advice on how to customise the resources to fit with your individual institution. To find out more about the project and download your free copy of the toolkit please click on the following link: www.northumbria.ac.uk/toolkit or contact Dr. Fiona Robson for more details (f.robson@northumbria.ac.uk).
