UHR aims to support and enhance the career and development of HR professionals to ensure they feel equipped and confident to succeed in their role. We do this by offering a varied programme of events, workshops and training programmes as well as resources and learning schemes.

Events and Workshops

CUPA Conference Bursary and USA Study Visit
New for 2017, UHR is offering an exciting bursary enabling an HR professional to travel to California with an exclusive place to attend the CUPA-HR Conference in September. The opportunity also includes the possibility to visit an HR department in a university of choice when there. Find out more and apply for the bursary here.
The UHR Mentoring Scheme is a free, national mentoring service open to all its HR professional members across the UK Higher Education sector. With mentors either at HR Director level or established seniors in the sector, mentees can benefit from both their experience and expertise and knowledge to help support their own career. Multidisciplinary Action Learning sets
An Action Learning Set is a small, confidential forum offering practical learning to HR staff who are at Deputy Director level or equivalent. Each participant brings an organisational task, problem, challenge or opportunity to small open group discussions which then allow members to exchange, support and challenge each other’s action and learning for return to the workplace. Emerging Leaders Programme
The Emerging Leaders Programme is aimed at senior HR professionals within bands 3 or 4 who are likely to attain an HR directorship role within the next 2-3 years. As a four-day, immersive residential course, candidates will learn from a variety of expertise and experience, allowing them to leave the course with the ability to manage the transition of roles to senior HR in a credible, confident and positive manner.
